China's general public budget revenue, the sum of tax revenue and non-tax revenue, reached about 4.42 trillion yuan ($639.8 billion) in the first two months of this year, up 0.7 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

Of this, the country's tax revenue amounted to 3.64 trillion yuan, an uptick of 0.1 percent compared to the same period last year, while non-tax revenue climbed 3.4 percent year-on-year to 776.1 billion yuan, the data from the ministry showed.

Meanwhile, expenditure in the country's general public budget exceeded 4.67 trillion yuan in January and February, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent.

Spending on social security, employment and education, accounted for a large portion of the total, underscoring the country's continued emphasis on improving people's livelihoods.
