The Shanghai International Film Festival has been named to the "A-Festival" list by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, retaining its status as China's only festival in this prestigious category.

SIFF now joins other 16 renowned film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, in the A-festival category.

Founded in 1933, FIAPF is composed of 38 producers' organizations from 30 countries. It serves as the official accreditation and oversight body for international film festivals.

SIIF's latest recognition follows the biggest overhaul of FIAPF's accreditation process since 2007, which now adopts a data-based evaluation system that prioritizes international influence and stability as primary indicators.

Established in 1993 and accredited by FIAPF as an A-festival the following year, SIFF has steadily expanded its global reach and influence.

The 27th SIFF in 2025 received more than 3,900 film submissions from 119 countries and regions. The Golden Goblet Awards, the festival's highest honors, drew 49 entries from 28 countries and regions, with 77 percent of the films premiering worldwide.

Screenings of 410 films during the festival drew nearly half a million attendees, with almost 30 percent coming from outside Shanghai.

The 28th SIFF is scheduled to take place from June 12 to 21, 2026.
