Zeiss Vision Care looks to the future at Shanghai Optics Fair
Celebrating its 180th anniversary, Zeiss Vision Care showcased its cutting-edge innovations and vision for the future of eye health at the 24th China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair, held from Monday to Wednesday.
The company, part of German optical systems giant Zeiss Group, unveiled an independent pavilion, the Zeiss Vision Brand House, for the first time, which spanned 1,800 square meters. Under the theme "Nobody Sees Future Like You", the pavilion was designed around the concept of lifelong eye care. It featured exhibits focused on myopia management, new products and future living.
These themed sections offered a comprehensive vision care experience, ranging from professional eye examinations and personalized vision analysis to tailored optical solutions. The pavilion embodied Zeiss Vision Care's brand proposition of protecting and improving the vision and lifetime visual health of the world's consumers.
On the opening day of SIOF 2026, Zeiss Vision Care announced a partnership with Disney to produce a Toy Story gift box, combining fun and science to promote myopia management for children. The slogan "Myopia Moves Fast, Let's Move Faster" displayed at SIOF 2026 served as a reminder of the urgency of eye care.
At the heart of this initiative are the newly introduced Zeiss MyoActive lenses, which leverage the Zeiss M.O.V.E. (Micro Optical Variable Elements) technology. This technology generates constantly changing visual signals to support long-term and stable myopia control for young wearers.
During the fair, Zeiss Vision Care also premiered its premium Zeiss ClearMind lenses, catering to individuals experiencing vision-related fatigue who seek enhanced focus. Employing the Zeiss NeurOptix Design, these lenses align natural eye movements with optical clarity zones, delivering a superior viewing experience, especially for modern lifestyles that demand frequent and intense visual engagement.
Additionally, the pavilion showcased Zeiss Vision Care's expansion into diverse optical solutions. Highlights included the upgraded Zeiss DuraVision Plus coating, artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses and a range of eyewear tailored for everyday life, which included regular glasses, sunglasses, ski goggles and eye health products. Together, these offerings create a product range addressing myopia prevention for children, multi-scenario eye care for adults, outdoor activities and smart living.
Sven Hermann, a member of the executive board of Zeiss Group and the president and CEO of Consumer Markets, emphasized the company's long-standing dedication to innovation. Hermann said that with 180 years of science-based innovation expertise, Zeiss remains committed to advancing eye health management across lifetimes.
"China is not only the No 1 market for Zeiss Vision Care globally but also an essential part of Zeiss Vision Care's global innovation ecosystem," he said. "We aim to deepen our roots in China by driving advancements through both a global perspective and localized innovations."
Zeiss Vision Care's presence at SIOF 2026 underscored its commitment to an integrated approach to eye health, encouraging technology collaboration, resource sharing and cross-sector partnerships to build a high-quality, sustainable platform for the optical industry.
During the fair, Zeiss Vision Care launched fully automated fundus cameras, the OptiOne app for AI-powered visual analysis and the Zeiss Ortho-K lenses. In addition, industry experts were invited to share their insights into the latest advancements and future trends in myopia management.
The company also showcased the achievements and future of the Zeiss Eyecare Center. Discussions with industry partners and a series of launch events set the stage for collaborations aimed at high-quality growth in eye care.
Leveraging Zeiss Group's healthcare expertise, Zeiss Vision Care is merging medical insights with consumer services to enhance its optical ecosystem. Through new products, ecosystem development and professional tools, Zeiss Vision Care enhances industry capabilities while promoting a collaborative model of sustainable eye health management.
A highlight of the fair was Zeiss Vision Care's manufacturing facility in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. It has been added to the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network, showcasing its leading standards in digitalization, intelligent transformation and green development.
As the world's first optical lens manufacturing facility to join the network, the Guangzhou facility's breakthroughs in areas such as custom production and workflow efficiency have made it a benchmark for smart manufacturing in the industry.
Zeiss Vision Care also released its 2024-25 China Sustainability Fact Book, sharing its practices in digitalization and green development. For the company, sustainability extends beyond environmental stewardship. It also requires a commitment to nurturing long-term human health and promoting sustainable industry growth. Through initiatives such as the Zeiss Elite College, the company systematically develops professional talent within the industry. AI-driven solutions optimize resources, while Zeiss ECP Online allows consumers to access personalized vision care.
During SIOF 2026, Zeiss Vision Care hosted the "Beyond Talk" roundtable series, bringing together experts from digital marketing and AI sectors to explore digital transformation, smart service models and other topics. These discussions mapped out new paths for the growth of the eye health industry.
Meanwhile, Zeiss Vision Care announced the 10th "I Want to Go to Germany" Zeiss Optometrists Competition and signed key agreements with partners. Initiatives focused on talent development and the integration of industry chain collaborations into consumer-focused care underscore Zeiss Vision Care's commitment to a healthy China.
