Wuhan unveils measures to boost AI OPC development
Wuhan has announced a series of measures to transform itself into a thriving hub for AI OPC (One Person Company) startups, accelerating technological and industrial innovation and supporting the establishment of a national scientific and technological innovation center.
AI OPC refers to a new type of entrepreneurial entity founded by individuals or small teams with expertise in AI application development and integration.
Wuhan plans to introduce computing power service vouchers that will cover up to 50 percent of the computing service costs incurred by AI OPCs during the support period, with a maximum subsidy of 200,000 yuan ($29,078) per year for up to three years.
The city will regularly publish a "Talent Recruitment List" to help OPCs attract top talent with competitive salaries and positions, organizing over 50 AI talent recruitment events annually. OPC talents selected as strategic science and technology leaders, industry leaders, or outstanding young talents will receive financial support of 1 million yuan, 500,000 yuan, and 200,000 yuan, respectively.
Wuhan will establish a network of OPC ecosystem communities, offering resident companies access to computing power, data resources, and testing and evaluation services, as well as affordable office space, policy services, financial investment, and commercial support.
To support entrepreneurial ventures, Wuhan will provide startup assistance for AI talent. Based on comprehensive assessments of their business development and technological innovation, startups may receive up to 1 million yuan in funding.
The city will also host high-level OPC innovation and entrepreneurship competitions annually, identifying at least 50 projects with cutting-edge technology, innovative models, and significant potential, and providing policy support as stipulated.
