Spring opening: A digital journey from Dunhuang to 'Kunlun - Huaxia Panorama'
Listen closely — before the wind settles, the sound of camel bells rings from afar. With the first light of the Chinese New Year, a digital celebration of Chinese civilization slowly unfolds. Following Arts from the East, which uses technology to bring traditional crafts to life and explores new ways of cultural communication, Kunlun, a cultural platform by China Daily, opens a new chapter: Huaxia Panorama. Simultaneously, it launches its first cultural IP: Tiandi Dunhuang, using digital power to tell the story of civilization.
I. Kunlun: A new chapter
The vast world of Huaxia Panorama across thousands of years
"As all things grow, those who understand their roots endure."
Chinese civilization has grown through exchanges between regions and cultures, forming a diverse yet connected whole. Huaxia Panorama was born from this understanding. It looks back at how civilization formed and moved across time and space, reconnecting cultural landmarks once scattered throughout history.
The early writing of Yinxu, the rich imagination of Sanxingdui, the echoes of the Silk Road in Dunhuang, and the elegant life of Jiangnan — Today, these traces of civilization across time and space come together in Kunlun's digital world, forming a cultural scroll that continues to unfold. A picture of Chinese civilization — diverse yet united, different yet connected — is presented to audiences around the world.
II. Dunhuang: A new journey
Traveling together across distance: The digital journey of Tiandi Dunhuang
Dunhuang is a place of encounters. Winds from afar have passed through here, leaving their traces. Civilizations of various eras meet and reflect one another here. Once a key hub on the Silk Road, Dunhuang brought multiple cultures together. Through openness and exchange, new possibilities were born. The first stop of Huaxia Panorama begins here, in Dunhuang.
Dunhuang Cultural IP unveiled
A gathering of auspicious creatures, sharing good wishes
The new Dunhuang cultural IP is built around four key scenes: Spring, Mountains, Music, and Road. Spring and Mountains reflect the natural landscape of desert oases and the Singing Sand Mountains. Music and Road carry the memory of folk music and dance, as well as the Silk Road's legacy.
The IP features four auspicious creatures as its core visual symbols: the Nine-colored Deer, Winged Horse, Camel, and Rabbit. Combined with desert landscapes, musical instruments, and traditional patterns, they create a rich, layered picture of Dunhuang culture. Through contemporary design, traditional images are reimagined to present Tiandi Dunhuang as a cultural world that is broad in vision, connected across past and present, and shared between East and West.

Spring: Moon over the oasis and Nine-colored Deer
The water of the Crescent Spring shines in a sea of sand, bringing life and color to the vast desert. The Nine-colored Deer steps gently toward the spring. As an auspicious creature in Dunhuang art, it is a symbol of good fortune and blessings. Its arrival signals the arrival of hope and beauty.

Mountain: Crossing mountains and seas - Winged Horse
The Singing Sand Mountains rise and fall, with wind sounding like waves. The Winged Horse spreads its wings and flies above the dunes. It stands for courage, breaking boundaries, and moving forward to distant lands, carrying the power of freedom and hope.

Music: Flying apsaras dance and Rabbit
Stars fill the sky, and music flows through the air. Three Rabbits appear as flying dancers, moving together in harmony. In the rhythm of music and dance, all things connect, exhibiting the beauty of openness, balance, and shared life.

Road: Along the Silk Road - Camel
The sound of camel bells echoes far, and steady steps move forward. The Camel walks beyond the Yumen Pass, linking lands and cultures. Through travel and exchange, it reflects the Silk Road as a path where many cultures meet and live together.
