Sands China, Alipay and MACAU Pass deepen partnership for digital upgrade
Sands China Ltd, Alipay and MACAU Pass have jointly launched the "Tap for Luck, Tap for Golden Surprises" Chinese New Year campaign, a move that underscores the trio's strengthened partnership to enhance Macao's smart tourism experience and support the digital upgrade of the city's tourism sector and local business' operations.
Powered by Alipay Tap! interactive technology, the campaign integrates tap-to-check-in interactions and other engaging features, creating a seamless one-stop consumption experience designed to draw more tourists to Macao.
Meanwhile, Sands China has fully implemented Alipay Tap! across its extensive resort portfolio, streamlining payments at touchpoints spanning retail, dining, beauty and fashion, and souvenir shopping.
Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China, said Sands China is honored to be Macao's first operator to roll out the Alipay Tap! digital experience, underscoring the deepening collaboration between the resort operator and the digital payment giant.
"By integrating the strengths of the tourism and leisure industry with digital payment platforms, this partnership not only creates a smarter and more convenient experience for guests but also unlocks new digital business and marketing opportunities," Chum said.
Highlighting Macao's role as a vital hub for digital connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Han Xinyi, CEO and executive director of Ant Group, noted that the region offers an ideal environment for the innovation and deployment of digital technologies.
"Alipay Tap! is expanding beyond payments to cover membership engagement, interactive experiences and handheld checkout, helping enhance payment and consumption convenience while driving deeper integration and innovation across the Greater Bay Area's digital ecosystem," Han added.
Sun Hao, chairman and CEO of MACAU Pass, said the collaboration marks an important step following the company's efforts to promote the Alipay Tap! payment service, as it deepens scenario-based applications and broadens its service ecosystem. "We will continue working with partners to deliver innovative experiences and support Macao's smart-city development," Sun said.
Launched in Macao more than a year ago, Alipay Tap! has evolved from a convenient payment tool into a broader digital ecosystem, now enabling interactive check-ins, Pay-to-Join membership and handheld checkout across a range of service scenarios.
