China urged Japan on Wednesday to repent for its history of aggression, listen to the voices of its people calling for peace and denouncing war, and stick to a path of peaceful development.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reportedly renewed her call to amend Japan's Constitution to explicitly recognize the Self-Defense Forces during a campaign appearance.
Japan should earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community with concrete actions, he said.
