Xiong'an's foreign trade surges nineteenfold in 2025
Amid rapid economic momentum, Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province recorded a surge in foreign trade in 2025, with total imports and exports jumping nearly nineteenfold to 71.95 billion yuan ($10 billion).
The remarkable performance is attributed to a series of measures implemented to promote high-quality development in the area's foreign trade and investment.
Xiong'an Customs has built a "smart customs" system that applies big data, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things to streamline supervision processes and boost clearance efficiency for goods, according to a report by Hebei Daily.
Tailored services have been provided to different types of enterprises. A point-to-point response mechanism was established for companies relocated from neighboring Beijing that provides them with online and offline services.
For local exporters, policy training and compliance guidance were offered to help them solve personalized problems, such as customs clearance and logistics, in a timely manner so as to navigate international markets smoothly.
In one case, Jiakang Food Manufacturing in Anxin county became the first business in the new area to export chocolate products with a shipment bound for Indonesia, thanks to guidance from customs officers.
Customs officials said they will continue to refine services, foster new growth drivers, and facilitate the expansion of Xiong'an's foreign trade.
