Why some Western leaders are lining up for China

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is in Beijing — the first UK PM to visit China in eight years. Before him came leaders from Ireland, Canada, and Finland. Next in line, reportedly, is German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Why are some Western leaders suddenly practicing "woo diplomacy" with China?

Washington has become the real uncertainty. From tariff threats to reckless talk over Greenland, even close allies are feeling the whiplash. Loyalty to the US hasn't translated into security, stability, or growth.

China has kept its door open. And the results speak for themselves. During these recent visits, China reached concrete cooperation arrangements with Ireland, Canada, and Finland.

Meaningful outcomes will not come from slogans or pressure tactics. They will come from patience, mutual respect, and a willingness to deal with China as an equal. That process takes time — and those who understand this will be the ones who benefit.
