Winter storm transforms Zhangjiajie's Tianmen Mountain into frosty wonderland
A powerful cold front sweeping through Central China dramatically transformed the landscape of Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, overnight, coating its peaks with frost and snow.
According to Zhangjiajie's meteorological department, the region is experiencing a significant cold spell, with rain, snow, and freezing conditions expected from Monday to Thursday. The weather is bringing moderate to heavy snowfall, especially at higher elevations.
Despite the wintry conditions, the Tianmen Mountain scenic area remained open to visitors on Tuesday. However, some trails and facilities were closed for safety, according to the scenic area.
Tianmen Mountain is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and a national 5A-level scenic area that blends spectacular natural scenery with cultural heritage.
