Celebrating the arts of farmland laborers
Folk arts and handicrafts are artistic expressions of farmland laborers, embodying their emotional attachment to the soil. The lifestyles associated with these laborers may be waning, but museums are celebrating their aesthetics.
Shengsheng Fuxiang (Circles of Life), an ongoing exhibition at the Shijiazhuang Art Museum and Academy in Hebei province, showcases the vitality, the spirit of country life, and people's persistence in their daily hard work. It gathers the diverse regional styles of traditional nianhua (New Year paintings), including those of Wuqiang county in Hebei, Yangliuqing town in Tianjin, and the Taohuawu area in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, as well as the paper-cutting art of Yuxian county in Hebei.
Also on display are dozens of modern works integrating traditional crafts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.
The exhibition runs until March 20, adding celebratory vibes to the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
