Sierra Leone's president has said the country is committed to working with China to deepen bilateral cooperation and advance shared development goals.

Speaking upon receiving the letter of credence from Zhao Yong, the newly-appointed Chinese ambassador to Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio described China as a trusted and reliable partner that has consistently supported the country's development efforts, particularly in infrastructure, economic growth, and social development.

He commended the enduring friendship between the two nations, noting that the bilateral relationship is built on mutual respect, shared values, and a win-win partnership. He also said China's continued support demonstrates its genuine commitment to Sierra Leone's development.

The president encouraged Zhao to build on existing cooperation and oversee the continuation of ongoing development projects across the country.

He reaffirmed his government's commitment to working closely with China to ensure the partnership delivers tangible benefits to both nations.

Presenting his credentials, Zhao reaffirmed China's appreciation for Sierra Leone's consistent support for the one-China policy, and reiterated that Beijing remains ready to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual strategic interest.
