Pickleball tournament brings social and economic benefits in Luzhou
Sun Wenbing, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Tennis Association, said the event was organized under the guiding principle of "invigorating cities through sports events and promoting tourism through sport".
The goal, she noted, is to build a high-quality, clearly structured, and widely participatory branded competition. Sun added that the association will continue to promote the socialized, standardized, and systematic development of pickleball — aiming to improve the competition system so the sport can contribute more effectively to public health, social cohesion, and urban vitality.
To ensure smooth and high-standard operations, the organizing committee implemented comprehensive tournament support measures. Professional venues and equipment meeting national competition standards were provided, along with a panel of experienced domestic referees and technical officials to ensure fair and impartial officiating. Medical services, traffic coordination, and volunteer support were also carefully arranged, delivering a professional and well-received experience for athletes and guests.
In parallel with the competition, a series of outreach activities — including a Champions Training Camp, Champions on Campus program, and a Champions Tour of Luzhou — were held throughout the event.
Elite pickleball players visited schools and local communities — interacting directly with young people and residents, sharing their experiences, and offering hands-on instruction — further extending the tournament's impact beyond the courts.
