Professor Yu Hongmei, president of the Central Conservatory of Music, led a delegation to Germany for a series of musical exchanges on Thursday. The tour, aimed at deepening cultural ties between China and Germany, included a major concert, academic lectures and institutional collaborations.

The highlight was the Hearing Contemporary China: CCOM Composers' Chamber Music Concert in Hamburg, featuring nine contemporary works by young Chinese composers. The concert showcased diverse styles, blending traditional folk music, natural imagery, and philosophical themes.

Before the concert, the delegation visited the Hamburg State Opera, holding discussions with its management to explore future collaborations. They also renewed a partnership agreement with the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, focusing on student exchanges and academic cooperation.

In addition, vice-president and composer Qin Wenchen, along with composer Hao Weiya gave lectures on the influence of traditional Chinese music in contemporary compositions at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.

The tour concluded with a visit to the Ligeti Center at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, where Chinese musicians explored the latest in electronic music research and technology. The exchange underscored the growing cultural dialogue between China and Germany, with music as a powerful bridge for future collaboration.
