The Ministry of Education on Sunday issued an alert advising Chinese citizens to carefully consider any plans to study in Japan amid growing safety concerns.

The ministry said public security in Japan has deteriorated recently, noting a rise in criminal offenses targeting Chinese citizens. The overall security situation and study environment have worsened, increasing safety risks for Chinese nationals in Japan.

The ministry urged Chinese students already in Japan or planning to study there soon to closely monitor local security conditions, strengthen risk assessment, and enhance their safety awareness.
