XPeng delivered 37,709 vehicles in August, a 169 percent jump from a year earlier and a 3 percent rise from July, marking a new monthly record, the Chinese NEV maker said Monday.

The Guangzhou, Guangdong province-based company is counting on a series of new models to sustain momentum.

Its new P7 sedan, launched last week, secured more than 10,000 orders within seven minutes — the fastest debut in XPeng's history.

Foot traffic and test drives hit record highs in the first weekend after launch, said the carmaker.

The MONA M03 compact sedan remained a major growth driver, with more than 15,000 units delivered last month and over 160,000 sold since launch a year ago.

XPeng's G7 SUV has surpassed 10,000 cumulative deliveries, topping sales in its segment for four straight weeks.

Overseas expansion is accelerating as well. The G6 SUV is now available in over 30 countries and regions, with sales kicking off in Thailand in August. The X9 electric MPV has topped sales charts in China's Hong Kong special administrative region and Thailand.

XPeng is also deepening its alliance with German carmaker Volkswagen AG. The two signed an expanded deal in mid-August to jointly develop electronic and electrical architecture for both EV and hybrid platforms in China.

Financially, XPeng posted record revenue of 18.27 billion yuan ($2.56 billion) in the second quarter, up 125 percent year-on-year, with gross margin rising to 17.3 percent. Cash reserves stood at 47.6 billion yuan at the end of June.

At the ongoing Chengdu auto show, XPeng is showcasing its new lineup, including the P7, G7, X9, MONA M03, and its humanoid robot IRON, highlighting its ambitions in AI-driven mobility.
