For millennia, nomadic peoples roamed the vast steppes of what is now Central Asia, leading a highly mobile existence while herding horses, yaks, and sheep. Their way of life, deeply intertwined with nature and guided by an intimate understanding of geography and weather, enabled them to endure one of the harshest environments on earth.
