The Chinese Medicine Guangdong Laboratory, also known as the Hengqin Laboratory, released its latest development in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone on Thursday, including a full-process and full-scenario digital intelligence outpatient service at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine in Zhuhai.

The move marks the beginning of personalized digital intelligent diagnosis and treatment through collaboration between traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and AI technologies and machines.

The hospital now has the first fully integrated TCM digital intelligence diagnosis and treatment clinic in China.

Liu Liang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said the laboratory has made comprehensive progress in the construction of original technology platforms thanks to the efforts of its talented team. Liu is also director of the Hengqin Laboratory, which was established in December of 2023.

Wang Hongbin, president of the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, said his university would work with the laboratory to leverage geographical and policy advantages and accelerate breakthroughs in theoretical TCM research, disease control, and TCM innovations in the following months.

"Meanwhile, we will continue to promote the transformation and industrial application of our achievements, contributing to the globalization of traditional Chinese medicine and the construction of a healthy China," he said.

Shi Qiaorong, Party secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, said her hospital would continue to spare no effort to support the construction of the Hengqin Laboratory and carry out pilot work with the digital intelligent outpatient service in the breast and rheumatology departments.

She said the hospital would continue improving its labs by combining top resources in research, talent, and clinical work. This supports Guangdong's push to become a TCM leader and contribute to a healthier China.
