Help kept in mind by Myanmar people
President Xi Jinping on Friday urged China and Myanmar to intensify strategic cooperation and keep advancing the construction of key projects of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing.
He emphasized that China and Myanmar are a community with a shared future, enduring hardships and standing together in times of need, and the two countries should work together to uphold the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.
The Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit, advocated by both China and Myanmar, have stood the test of time, demonstrating their enduring value in today's world, he added.
Xi expressed the hope that the Myanmar government will take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals, institutions and projects in the country, and make greater efforts to combat transnational crimes such as online gambling and telecommunications fraud.
Both countries should work together to defend the international system with the United Nations at its core, and the international order underpinned by international law, he said.
Min Aung Hlaing expressed Myanmar's gratitude for China's prompt assistance following the recent earthquake disaster, saying that the profound friendship in times of crisis will be kept in mind by the people of Myanmar forever.
Noting that Myanmar highly values its relationship with China and is willing to be a trusted and friendly neighbor to China forever, the Myanmar leader said his country is ready to work hand in hand with China to address common challenges.
