Xiamen hosts job fair for Taiwan graduates
More than 220 graduates from Taiwan gathered in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Saturday for an on-site job, internship, and trainee placement fair. The event provided employment support for graduates from Taiwan who wish to work in Xiamen, with nearly 600 job positions available on-site.
"I'm eager to work in Xiamen and full of hope for the future," said Lai, a master's candidate in accounting at Xiamen University, who is from Taiwan. "In the six years I've studied here, I've seen many policies supporting young people from Taiwan. Our cultures and languages are so similar, and Jinmen is just a half-hour ferry ride away whenever I feel homesick."
Fang Xuming, director of the Taiwan Work Office in Xiamen's Huli district, said the surge in college graduates this year prompted the recruitment drive. "We hoped to draw more students from Taiwan to develop their careers here, and the response far exceeded our expectations," he said.
As the first cross-Strait cooperative bank on the Chinese mainland, Xiamen Bank has hosted 13 intern cohorts, about 700 Taiwan students, and now employs more than 40 on its staff, according to Tang Lei, assistant general manager of the bank's human resources department. She added that there is no cap on the number of positions available in this round and invited all finance graduates to apply.
