A Book Week activity themed on humans and nature kicked off on Sunday in Deqing county, Zhejiang province.

The event was co-organized by the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Center, the Beijing Changier Education Foundation, and the UN-affiliated Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China).

During the weeklong event, writer Wang Xiangfu will host a series of literary lectures. The Beijing Changier Education Foundation, in collaboration with the portal website China.com, will hold a seminar titled Smart Earth and the Future Contract.

Additionally, various themed activities such as a youth writing contest and a shared reading of a global geography booklist will take place.

Meanwhile, the Beijing Changier Education Foundation's Maternal Love Academies — which empower marginalized mothers by providing psychological counseling, skills training, and family reintegration support to vulnerable communities — will simultaneously organize public welfare activities in cities like Shanghai, Xi'an of Shaanxi province and Chengdu of Sichuan province, where mothers and children read together to promote environmental protection.

Li Pengde, director of the UN Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Center, said: "We hope that through such activities, we can inspire the younger generation's passion for geography, the Earth, and life, making Deqing county's experience a model for the world."
