Report lists reasons for tunnel collision
Driver fatigue, speeding and regulatory failures were to blame for a highway crash that killed 14 people and injured 37 in Shanxi province last year, according to an official investigation report released on Sunday. The March 19, 2024, crash occurred in the Xijiata Tunnel on the G59 Expressway in Linfen when a bus hit the tunnel's wall. The driver was fatigued at the time, exceeded the speed limit and failed to turn on the vehicle's headlights while entering the tunnel, the report by the Shanxi Emergency Management Department found.
Pilot manages to eject before fighter jet crash
The pilot of a Chinese fighter jet parachuted to safety before the aircraft crashed during a training session in South China on Saturday, according to the military. The fighter jet crashed in an open area near a town in Lingao county, Hainan province, causing no collateral damage on the ground, said the Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command Navy in a statement. It said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
