Cherries have emerged as a major highlight of Chilean exports to China in the last 14 years since China has become a major trade partner of Chile.

"One of the biggest stars of our trade with China are cherries," said Mauricio Hurtado, the Chilean Ambassador to China, in a recent interview with China Daily.

Furthermore, China's investments in Chilean infrastructure such as railroads and airports have been steadily increasing.

"That is very amazing," Mauricio said when mentioning China's reform and opening-up. "That is basic for a common understanding around the world and to bring more peace, of course, more understanding among each other."
