In a recent interview with China Perspectives, Yao Yang, director of the China Center for Economic Research at Peking University, pointed out that people should think about China's problem of insufficient demand in a global setting. "The share of consumption in China has been steadily increasing," he said. Addressing concerns that China's economy is overly reliant on exports and investment, he emphasized that China is not solely producing for itself but also for the entire world.
