The genesis of Lei Feng's enduring legacy dates back to March 5, 1963, when Chairman Mao Zedong penned an article in the People's Daily commemorating the young soldier, who tragically passed away at the age of 22 in 1962. This event led to the establishment of "Learn From Lei Feng Day", honoring Lei as a role model embodying qualities such as selflessness and dedication.
