On April 26, cellist Li Yang and pianist Hong Mei mesmerized audiences with a captivating concert at the Beijing Concert Hall, presenting a selection of musical masterpieces, including Schumann's Adagio and Allegro, Op 70, Schubert's Sonata in A Minor for Arpeggione and Piano, D 821, and Brahms' Cello Sonata No 2, Op 99.

This performance marked the first collaboration between Li and Hong, culminating in an enthralling encore presentation of Jacqueline's Tears by Jacques Offenbach.

The concert forms part of the ongoing chamber music series, "Meet Classics", hosted by the Beijing Concert Hall, offering audiences a unique and intimate musical experience.

Hailing from a musical lineage, Li, whose parents both contributed to the China National Symphony Orchestra, received his early cello training from his father, the celebrated cellist Li Zhongping.

Li Yang further honed his craft at the New England Conservatory in the United States, studying under renowned cellists David Hartford and David Finckel, before continuing his musical journey at the State University of New York. He was privileged to receive guidance from the celebrated Russian virtuoso Vagram Sarajian and the late cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich.
