The 45th Bangkok International Motor Show kicked off on March 25 in Nonthaburi, Bangkok, Thailand, and will last until April 7.

The show has attracted 49 major auto brands from China, the Europe, Japan, India and Vietnam. Chinese car brands are receiving a lot of attention at the show.

Eight Chinese automobile brands such as SAIC MG, Great Wall Motor, BYD, GAC Aion, Chang'an's EV unit Deepal, Geely's premium brand Zeekr, Hozon's Neta and EV startup Xpeng are participating in the show.

According to the Sing Sian Yer Pao Daily News, the number of new car registrations of pure electric vehicles in Thailand in 2023 has surpassed 76,000, a significant increase from 9,678 in 2022. Chinese-branded cars account for 80 percent of the country's new energy vehicle market.

The export volume of China's new energy vehicles in 2023 reached 1.2 million units, up 77.2 percent year-on-year, marking a record high. Among them, the export volume to the Thai market reached 160,400 units, ranking second, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
