Alan Macfarlane, an emeritus professor of anthropology at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of King's College, expressed the profound impact tea has had on the world in a recent interview with China Daily. He shared his research on Chinese tea culture and his experiences traveling in China. "If tea had not existed on this planet, it would be an entirely different world. We wouldn't be sitting here," he said.
