Macao to host International Forum for Clean Energy
In a move to galvanize global cooperation for clean energy transformation, the International Forum for Clean Energy (Macao) and the Portuguese Energy Agency will jointly host the 10th International Forum for Clean Energy on Nov 21 to 23 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The forum this year will be held against the backdrop that global energy security is witnessing increasing uncertainty and risks due to the onset of multiple challenges, including climate change, energy crises and geopolitical conflicts, IFCE said.
"This has resulted in the disruption of energy supply chains, soaring energy prices and a slowdown in global energy transition," it said.
The progress seen in the implementations of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and targets in the 2015 Paris Agreement are below expectations, the forum said.
It said this year's event aims to promote the progress of the implementations, deepen global cooperation in the clean energy supply chain and establish global partnerships for clean energy transformation.
The theme of the gathering is "Energy Transition and International Cooperation in the Context of Global Carbon Neutrality".
The conference's participants will include representatives from government bodies, industries, academia and research institutions in China, the European Union, Portuguese-speaking countries and Mediterranean nations.
It will focus on new technologies, industries, businesses and models, and new scenarios, as well as the management of carbon neutrality, according to IFCE.
A non-profit international organization based in Macao, the IFCE was jointly set up by members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and experts and scholars from many countries.
It was formally established in April 2012 with support from the CPPCC National Committee and the Macao Special Administrative Region.
