Here is an excerpt of Ms Michela Arricale's speech at the forum:
The crisis of the international order we experience cannot be solved by weapons, nor by political interference guided by an ideology doomed to defeat history.
It requires a long process of sustainable development. Sustainable development is development that not only generates economic growth but also distributes its benefits equitability; that regenerates the environment rather than destroying it; that empowers people rather than marginalizing them… The peace agenda and the development agenda must finally be integrated. Without peace, there may be no development. But without development, peace is threatened.
