The 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) will run from Friday to June 18. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of its launch.

As China's only A-category international film festival, the SIFF has been positioned to focus on "Asia, Chinese films and new talents" over the past 30 years.

This year's festival received nearly 8,800 entries from over 128 countries and regions. It will feature screenings of a number of outstanding films from around the world, as well as a series of film programs to promote cooperation, exchange and development in the film industry.

Competition sections for the festival's main prize "Golden Goblet" fall into five categories: the main competition for feature-length films, as well as competitions specialized in Asian new talent, animation, documentary and short films. The awards ceremony will take place on the night of June 17.

Over the past three decades, the film festival has brought together generations of Chinese filmmakers to push Chinese cinema onto the global stage for global communication and cooperation.
