Guangzhou adding many beds for COVID-19
In the city's Baiyun district, construction of a large quarantine base, which is mainly used to isolate people being transferred from high-risk areas, was also finished on Tuesday.
The base, with a construction area of about 80,000 square meters, will provide some 63,000 beds for quarantine, according to sources in the company.
In Nansha district, construction of another quarantine base, the largest of its kind currently in Guangzhou, will also be completed soon, providing more than 80,000 beds for the isolation of people from high-risk areas, according to China Construction Fourth Engineering Bureau Group.
On Tuesday, Guangzhou reported 235 new locally transmitted confirmed cases and 7,735 asymptomatic carriers. Of those, 40 were found at the community level, the local health authority said.
