Fifty Singapore companies will be exhibiting at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) which will take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, an increase of five companies from last year, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) announced on Tuesday.

According to the SBF, the Singapore Pavilion, which will span 1,294 square meters, will showcase innovative, diverse, high-quality, and reliable services and products from sectors including consumer goods as well as food and agriculture.

An online platform will also be set up to allow companies in Singapore and China to showcase their products and services, communication with one another and facilitate discussions and negotiations.

"The increase in the number of Singapore exhibitors participating at this year's CIIE demonstrates the continued interest by Singapore companies to expand into China," said SBF Chairman Lim Ming Yan.

"Singapore's strengths in sectors such as healthcare, education and professional services are of value to Chinese companies. I look forward to witnessing the formation of strong partnerships and the forging of close connections between our businesses that will go far in deepening the strong economic and trade relations between our countries," he added.

China has been Singapore's largest trading partner for the last nine years. In 2021, China's imports from Singapore were valued at $38.79 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.7 percent. Meanwhile, Singapore's investments in China in 2021 were worth $10.33 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.5 percent.
