As a part of the World Youth Development Forum, the Digital Economy Thematic Forum was held in Beijing on Saturday.

Nearly 400 officials, scholars, entrepreneurs, heads of international organizations, and young leaders from all over the world were invited to discuss ways to encourage the global youth to jointly meet the opportunities and challenges presented by the digital economy.

With the digital economy emerging as a new driver of the global economy, Xu Kemin, chief economist of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that he hopes the youth could share their experience and knowledge in digitalization, and participate in building the digital economy.

Noting that the world need youth now more than ever, UNDP resident representative in China Beate Trankmann said the youth are digital natives and these fresh minds can lead us to the technological revolution.

In the sharing session of youth engagement, young entrepreneurs from different countries such as China, India and Bangladesh, shared their experience in using digital technology to empower industry development, contributing youth wisdom to the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Themed "For a Shared Future: Promoting Sustainable Development with Youth and for Youth", the forum, is jointly hosted by the All-China Youth Federation and other institutions.
