This year marks the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the first giant pandas in the US from China in 1972. The Memphis Zoo in Tennessee is one of only three zoos so far in the US with pandas, and being in the zoo feels like exactly being in a Chinese garden. Matt Thompson, the president and CEO of the Memphis Zoo, said "the 50th-year anniversary shows that we can come together around this common theme of conserving the giant panda".
