Mei Jun, chief of the police station of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), which is the venue for the annual China International Import Expo, recently submitted stories about his work experiences during the previous expos, becoming the first participant of the "My CIIE Story" activity.

The police station where Mei works at was set up in 2017, the same year when China was preparing for the inaugural edition of the CIIE. Mei and his colleagues are responsible for providing security services during the expo.

On June 1, Mei shared a notice about the activity, which is inviting people to tell their personal stories about the CIIE, in a WeChat group with his colleagues and this sparked a lively discussion on their experiences during the past four years.

In the eyes of his colleagues, Mei has played a key role in ensuring a safe expo every year. Before the inaugural CIIE in 2018, Mei drafted a 16-page document detailing all the security measures. The number of measures increased to 50 during the third edition in 2020 in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Mei said he treats each CIIE as an "important test", and that he is pleased he has always made the grade.

To date, more than 100 individuals and companies have provided stories or clues for the "My CIIE Story" activity since it was launched on June 1. According to the organizers, they will invite professionals to evaluate the topics, content, and diction of the works, present certificates to outstanding authors, and publish some of the best submissions. The organizers will also compile a book and create a video of the best works.
