Discovering Ningxia: A winery in the foothills

Alexis Hooi, a Singaporean journalist at China Daily, arrived in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region at the end of last year, wanting to find out more about the region's up-and-coming wines. He headed for the foothills of Helan Mountain and spent a day at Li's Winery, where he learned about the area's rich winemaking culture — as well as the policies, incentives and support for the industry from Yinchuan, the regional capital.
Through the wines of Helan Mountain, Hooi gained a better understanding of the region and its impressive development.
