Guangdong's winning streak ended by Zhejiang
ZHUJI, China -- The 10-game winning run of reigning CBA champions the Guangdong Southern Tigers was stopped by a convincing 105-81 win for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Sunday.
It was the fourth and final regular-season meeting between the two teams. As the champion of the previous two CBA seasons, Guangdong holds a superior record against most of the teams in the league. Guangdong and Zhejiang had faced each other 64 times before Sunday, with Guangdong winning 56 of them. Thanks to the victory, Zhejiang was able to level the 2020-21 season record against Guangdong to 2-2.
Zhejiang were missing several key players such as Wu Qian, Cheng Shuaipeng and Zhang Dayu, but young talents Lai Junhao, Liu Zeyi and Shi Zhenkai stepped up to take over.
Five Zhejiang players notched double digits. Maurice Ndour topped the team with 23, and Lai and Liu had 16 and 15 points respectively.
