China's tourism sector is expected to have a robust recovery, with airline ticket reservations surging for the upcoming holidays.

By March 17, reservation for airline tickets jumped more than tenfold for the five-day Labor Day holiday break starting on May 1, compared with the same period last year, which was haunted by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to big data from the online travel agency ly.com, tech media 36Kr reported on Wednesday.

At present, air ticket prices for the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday in early April have essentially reached the level seen during the same period last year, while the prices for the Labor Day holiday have exceeded those in the same period in 2019.

Tourists' favored domestic destinations were also predicted by ly.com, including Sanya, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Xi'an, Shanghai, Lijiang, Dali, Guilin, Beijing, Guangzhou and Kunming.
