In the Tsinghua University Art Museum, an exhibition was recently concluded featuring the contemporary art collection of Xindong Cheng, founder of the Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art, one of the first generation of contemporary art gallerists and collectors in China.

In the past 30 years, he has introduced many leading contemporary Chinese artists to the world through exhibitions, and also introduced international contemporary artists to China. His efforts in exhibition promotion and art collection have played a significant role in the globalization of contemporary Chinese art, and provided a vivid expression of this period of history.

In this interview, Cheng talks about the role of public museums in incorporating art into people's lives. He also looks over the great changes and accomplishments since China's reform and opening-up.
