China asks India to clarify ban on Chinese apps

Opposing any discriminatory and restrictive measures against Chinese companies, China has asked the Indian side for clarifications on the permanent ban to be imposed on video app TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps in June, as some Indian media reported.

The Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng told a media briefing on Thursday that Chinese government has always required Chinese companies operating overseas to abide by international rules, operate in compliance with laws and regulations, and respect local public customs.

He also said the hard-won progress in China-India economic and trade cooperation has benefited both countries' people, and China hopes the two countries will meet each other halfway so that an open, fair and nondiscriminatory business environment will be provided in India for market players from various countries, including Chinese enterprises, and that China-India bilateral economic and trade cooperation can be back on the right track soon.
