Fluminense boss Marcao tests positive for COVID-19
RIO DE JANEIRO -- Fluminense's Marco Oliveira is the latest Brazilian football manager to be diagnosed with COVID-19, the Rio de Janeiro club said on Tuesday.
The 48-year-old, who is better known as Marcao, will remain isolated for the next 10 days in line with public health guidelines, Fluminense said in a statement.
The club did not provide details of Marcao's condition.
He will miss the clash with local rivals Flamengo on Wednesday and the visit to Corinthians on January 13.
Fluminense said the club's under-23 manager, Ailton Ferraz, would take charge of the first team on an interim basis.
Other Brazilian managers to have tested positive for the virus include Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Ramon Menezes, Dorival Junior, Thiago Larghi and Umberto Louzer.
