iPhone versus WeChat: Which one would you choose?

Editor's note: US president Donald Trump issued an executive order on Aug 6 that would ban any US transactions with WeChat, a popular and all-encompassing Chinese social media platform, in 45 days, which is a ban that would extend to Apple and Google offering downloads in their app stores. If Apple did pull WeChat from its app store, would you keep using iPhone? China Daily readers share their ideas.

I would not hesitate to choose WeChat. WeChat is almost a necessity for my life. My daily communication with my family and friends is achieved through WeChat, and even my work communication is inseparable from WeChat.

Losing WeChat is like losing my entire social circle. I can't imagine how boring my life will be without WeChat. I'd rather choose WeChat than the iPhone I've always used.

According to Bloomberg, WeChat had 762.4 million monthly active users at the end of the first quarter of 2016. The number was 697 million at the end of 2015, up 39 percent year-on-year.
