Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin on Thursday slammed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's announcement of "Clean Network" efforts, which includes banning Chinese apps from US app stores.

Wang said it is absurd and ridiculous the United States keeps talking about "clean networks" while it has stained itself with bad practices in cyber security, with well-known examples such as the Snowden case.

The spokesman stressed many Chinese companies unilaterally sanctioned by the US are innocent, and their products and services are safe.
