Major reform areas include dispute settlement, policy transparency and reporting, the status of developing countries, and non-market policy measures and practices, Kawai said at the Global Think Tank Webinar on Wednesday.

He added that the Japanese economy seems to have reached its bottom in May and June and started to recover in July from the COVID-19 impact.

The webinar, themed "Stronger together: Global recovery from COVID-19", was co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China Daily.
