A new metro line in Shanghai will connect the city to Taicang, in East China's Jiangsu province, according to local news portal Shanghai Observer on Monday.
A part of the efforts to further the integration of regions in the Yangtze River Delta, this new Jiamin Line will link the Jiading North Station in Jiading district and Xinzhuang North Station in Minhang district to Taicang.
Shanghai Observer said the design of this new line to Taicang, a city that borders northwestern Shanghai, will be handled by the China Railway Shanghai Design Institute.
Once completed, the line will allow people to travel from downtown Shanghai to Taicang in one hour.
