Mise (literally mystical-colored) porcelain, with a green shade, belongs to the family of Yueyao porcelain. Appearing in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), mise porcelain was only for royals and its preparation techniques were strictly confidential, which is why its special color was dubbed "mysterious".

Most mise porcelain works have a shade of green, and only a few of them are yellow.

Wen Changqing, born in 1949, has studied the craft of making mise porcelain since the 1980s. His son joined in his study and in 2012, they successfully made mise porcelain that very closely replicates ancient pieces after years of exploration and experiments. Many of their works have been collected by museums and art studios at home and abroad.
