Online program gathers artists to share work, ideas

Academy Award-winning costume designer and art director Tim Yip will join an online streaming program, titled ALab, which will kick off May 8 on video sharing platform Bilibili.

Co-organized by the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, the online program will also gather artists, including writer Pai Hsien-yung, Kunqu Opera actress Shen Fengying and pianist Gu Jieting, who will share their artistic works and the ideas behind them.

According to Zhang Li, general manager of the center,the performing arts market has been heavily affected by the coronavirus outbreak and online events, which helps the center connect with audiences, have been planned for months.

Drummers of the U-theatre from Taiwan will premiere their new works during the online program, the art troupe's first new pieces after losing its theater in Taiwan in a fire.
