China's economy is gradually returning back to normal, as major industrial companies outside of Hubei province have resumed work at a rate of more than 90 percent, China's top economic regulator said on Tuesday.

Meng Wei, spokesperson for the National Development and Reform Commission, told a news conference resumption of work and production is accelerating across the nation.

According to her, nearly 100 percent of major industrial companies in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, Guangxi and Chongqing have restarted production.

The nonferrous metal industry's electricity consumption has reached normal level last year, and power consumption in the medical, chemical and electronics sectors has been restored to 90 percent of the normal level.

Meng added the capacity of railway loads has been restored to the normal level, and civil aviation, ports and water transportations have resumed normal operations.
