A selection process for choosing artwork, broadcast platforms and artistic workers representative of the country's new era ended on Jan 12 in Beijing.

Organized by People's Daily, Global Times Research Center and data company Gozen Data, the activity generated praise for dozens of TV series, reality shows, actors and actresses and broadcasting platforms for having model values in the new era.

Among those named, actors Tang Guoqing, Li Xuejian and Li Xian were listed as "influential actors". Actresses Yu Lan, Qin Yi and Lyu Zhong were among the "people's actors (actresses)".

Discussions of how to tell Chinese stories in new ways and make use of big data to create quality content were also organized during the ceremony.

"In recent years, artistic workers have made outstanding achievements and provided quality work. We will continue to improve and show stronger positive energy," said Yuan Xinwen, director of People's Daily's department of literature and art.

According to Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Beijing-based newspaper Global Times, "I hope all filmmakers and artistic workers can keep up with the times to promote the literary and artistic prosperity of our country."
